FREE CONCERTS AT THE GREAT MIDWEST RIB FEST
JULY 25 – 27 AT MYSTIC LAKE
PRIOR LAKE – June 4, 2014 – Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Oak Ridge Boys and Chris Hawkey will headline three days of free live entertainment at The Great Midwest Rib Fest July 25 through 27. The three-day festival at Mystic Lake will also feature eight of the country’s top rib cookers competing for $15,000 in prizes, an art festival with dozens of Midwestern artists, and food and drink tents selling specialty sides, desserts and more.
Paul Revere and the Raiders are first up Friday, July 25 at 7 p.m. Over the past five decades Paul Revere has created a highly polished act built on warmth and spontaneity. Paul Revere and the Raiders were the first rock group to be signed to Columbia Records with the 1963 recording of “Louie Louie,” and have gone on to chart 23 consecutive hit singles including “Steppin’ Out” and “Indian Reservation.”
The Oak Ridge Boys will take the stage Saturday night at 7 p.m. The four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of The Oak Ridge Boys have spawned dozens of country hits and a No. 1 pop smash, earned them Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM awards and garnered a host of other industry and fan accolades. Every time they step before an audience, The Oak Ridge Boys bring four decades of hits—and 50 years of tradition—to one of the most exciting live shows anywhere.
Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. local favorite Chris Hawkey will close out the festival with his crowdpleasing
contemporary country sound. Hawkey wears multiple hats: successful solo musician, band leader and radio personality. With four albums under his belt, he is also producer and cohost of The Power Trip Morning Show and host of FAN Motorsports on K-FAN 100.3. Hawkey’s new self-titled solo album includes the hit single “My Kinda Crazy.” He has opened for many of country and rock music’s best-known acts.
Local bands Viva Knievel, Not Guilty, Power of 10, Maiden Dixie, Jimmi & The Band of Souls and Junk FM will also perform throughout the three-day festival. Visit midwestribfest.com for details and a complete schedule of events.
