For the third straight year, Mystic Lake will play host to Twin Cities country music radio station K102’s listener appreciation event. K102’s Class of 2011 show will include Frankie Ballard, Edens Edge, Hunter Hayes, Thompson Square, Scotty McCreery and Brantley Gilbert.
Frankie Ballard’s self-titled debut album saw single “A Buncha Girls” reach No. 27 on the Billboard country songs chart and he’s already opened for such notables as Taylor Swift, Bob Seger and Uncle Kracker – with a fall tour opening for Darius Rucker on the horizon.
Edens Edge released its debut self-titled album in May before joining with Brad Paisley on the 2011 “H20 Tour” this summer. They currently are supporting Reba McEntire’s “All the Women I Am Tour” with The Band Perry and Steel Magnolia.
Hunter Hayes’ self-titled debut album has yet to be released, but his first single, “Storm Warning,” already reached No. 29 on the Billboard country songs chart. The 20-year-old played every instrument and co-produced his upcoming album, and was the opening act on Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now World Tour” this summer.
Thompson Square is already receiving accolades, earning CMA award nominations for New Artist of the Year and Vocal Duo of the Year. Their self-titled debut album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard country albums chart, while single “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not” topped the country songs chart – one of two singles from the album to reach the top 15.
Scotty McCreery won the 10th season of FOX’s American Idol this spring. His first single, “I Love You This Big,” was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, and his debut album Clear as Day was released this month.
Brantley Gilbert has a pair of albums under his belt, with Halfway to Heaven, featuring “Country Must Be Country Wide,” peaking at No. 19 on the Billboard country albums chart.
The Band Perry – recently nominated for four Country Music Association awards – were featured at K102’s 2010 listener appreciation event, and Academy of Country Music award nominee Steel Magnolia was among 2009’s participants. Tickets to see K102’s Class of 2011 in the Mystic Showroom at Mystic Lake on Sunday, November 13, are not for sale. They can only be won. Contact K102 or go to K102.com for more details.
